Monday Sep 13th (A Day)

Exercise Science:

Ch 2 and 3 questions due (pg 25 bullets, pg 45 1-8, pg 46 bullets, pg 58 1-10)

Discussion on Ethics and Documentation

SOAP Note assignment... You have to create a template SOAP note and turn in. This will be blank.

Test is next time on Unit 1. Covers Careers, Legal Terminology, Ethics, SOAP notes, and sports medicine in introduction in general


Intro To Health Sciences:

Broke into groups and listed media influences on teenagers today and how they affected boys and girls differently. The groups were broken up into Music, Magazines, Movies/TV, and Other.

We discussed the lists and understood the effect that we always relate back to the ones influence negatively.

Assignment... Find a song that describes you... again I say you. Find one that makes you feel like who you are. We will play in class and try to guess who they belong to.

Remember the Hierarchy Triangle is due next time as well.

Forever Strong Movie: we watched the movie to realize how much the choices we make can and will effect ourselves as well as those around us. We had to list all of the bad choices he made and the consequences that came from them as well as all of the good choices he made and the consequences. We also listed some risk factors that were present throughout the show.

Friday Aug 27th/Monday Aug 30th

Sports Med:

Notebooks are due: 3 ring binder, paper, and 10 dividers.
Go to Library to begin working on careers presentation:
1- Visual Aide
2- 3-5 page paper
3- 5 test questions with answers
4- presentation follow guide with 10 key points minimum

What you need to have for presentation to score well:
1- What is your career
2- Skills that would help make an individual successful
3- Education required (certifications as well)
4- Salary Range
5- Job Outlook
6- What type of places do they work in
7 - Would you consider doing this career? Why or Why not?

Presentation follow guides must be turned into me by Tuesday Aug 31st (A) or Wednesday Sep 1st (B). We will begin Presentations Friday Sep 3rd(B) and Monday Sep 6th(A)

Wednesday Aug 25th

Sports Med:

Disclosure handout and discussion
Need for class... 3 Ring Binder (2"), 10 tab dividers, paper to fill it. This was an assignment given and will be needed to be shown on Friday

CE discussion... Need to be accepted to Weber State soon. $30 one time and then you can register for any class. I have all paper work in my class.

Assignment of the first Project... Sports Medicine Careers Presentation.
Careers to choose from are:
Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Chiropractor,
Dietician, Exercise Physiologist, Massage Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Orthopedic
Surgeon, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Personal Trainer, Phsical Therapist,
Sports Psychologist.
We will get more information on Friday(A) and Monday(B) and we will be going to the
Library to work on them. You will have one full day in class to work and the presentations
will start next Wed (A) and Thurs (B).

First Day Of School...Day #1 (Aug 23rd and 24th)

Alright... Pretty simple today.

Exercise Sports Med:
Introductions
What is Sports Med Discussion (20 participation points awarded)
Intro to Health Sciences:
Introductions
What is the class about?
Hyroglyphics
Students drew a cave painting describing who they are. This could include interests
and hobbies, sports, music, favorite things, etc. It must be done on blank 8X10 paper and must be colored. I will post examples tomorrow of what others have done.
This will be due at the beginning of class on Wed(A Day) and Thurs (Bday)

First Day Of School

Monday August 23,2010

Here we go. Another year of great fun and excitement.

Today we will do introductions of everyone in the class and do some getting aquainted activities.

In Sports Med:
We will also discuss what the class is all about and discuss the CE element of the class as well.

In Intro to Health Science:
We will discuss the class and the concepts that will be discussed and why it is important to take this class.
